Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford is a 264-bed, non-profit hospital devoted to the care of children, adolescents and expectant mothers. Providing the full range of health care programs and services from preventive and routine care to the diagnosis and treatment of serious illness and injury, Packard Children’s helps children around the block and around the world recognize their full potential.
Nationally recognized for treating the most complex cases of any full-service children’s hospital in the United States, Packard Children’s role as a regional and national referral center for specialized pediatric care continues to grow. Our physicians treat patients from an average of 38 states and 13 countries annually. At the same time, Packard Children’s is the community hospital for our local area and serves over 70 percent of obstetric and over 80 percent of pediatric patients from our local communities requiring hospitalization.
As part of the Stanford University School of Medicine and Stanford University Medical Center, research and education are primary components of Packard Children’s mission and are integral to our operation. Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital is constantly building on its expertise in established methods while also trailblazing new ones to provide the very latest and very best care. The hospital is a training setting for medical and pharmacy students, residents and fellows.
Through Packard Children’s Family-Centered Care program, staff members are specially trained to educate, integrate and partner with families to determine and provide optimal care to meet each patient’s unique needs.
At Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, many factors harmonize to make ideal pediatric and obstetric medicine a reality. A scaled, inviting setting with playrooms, gardens, and fountains puts children at ease, while more than 700 leading physicians and 4750 expert support staff and volunteers collaborate, advocate and care for each child. Together, these factors drive Packard Children’s singular focus of helping children and expectant mothers to be well.
